The Strad’s September issue features British violinist Nicola Benedetti, who speaks about launching the Benedetti Sessions, her mass education project for string players of all ages. There’s an article by Leon Bosch about performing Bach’s Cello Suites on the double bass and a look at a new edition of Schumann’s Cello Concerto by Josephine Knight. We also examine the work of violin maker Giuseppe Ceruti and introduce the twelve instruments featured in next year’s calendar, all taken from Norway’s Dextra Musica foundation. Plus, we pay tribute to the great Ida Haendel, who died in July at the age of 96.
