The Mannes School of Music in New York has announced the appointment of violinist Bella Hristova to its faculty.

Hristova commented on her appointment: ’Teaching feels like a natural extension of my performing career, and I’ve been fortunate to have extraordinary mentors in my life.

’I look forward to sharing the insights I’ve gained through my experiences on and off the stage with the next generation of violinists, and being part of the forward-thinking artistic community at Mannes and The New School.’

The Bulgarian-American violinist is a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, won first prize at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition and is a laureate of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis.

Highlights of Hristova’s 2025-26 season include a return to Carnegie Hall performing Dvorak’s Violin Concerto with the New York String Orchestra, conducted by Jaime Laredo; debuts with the Shenzhen and Wuxi Symphony Orchestras, and the completion of her Lineage commissioning project, which showcases six new solo violin works by contemporary composers.

She is a frequent performer with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and has held residencies at top conservatories and summer music festival programs as a recitalist.

Hristova attended masterclasses in Salzburg with Ruggiero Ricci, before going on to study with Ida Kavafian at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and received her Artist Diploma with Jaime Laredo at Indiana University.

She plays a 1655 Nicolò Amati violin, once owned by the violinist Louis Krasner and started her career with Young Concert Artists.
