Cardiff Violins was started in 1984 by Dan’s father Christopher King, a long-time tutor at the Welsh School of Musical Instrument Making. He began repairing instruments in Cardiff Bay, just south of the centre, and moved to Castle Arcade in the heart of the city, in 1993. Chris retired in 2024 when we took over the business, and sadly he died in January this year. We both work here full-time along with Michael Quinn, a graduate of the Welsh School, who takes care of the cello restorations…
