The live round of the 12th Biennial Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition took place from 11–12 April in Easton, MD, US. The winners were selected following performances at the Prager Family Center for the Arts.

The Dolphins Quartet was awarded the Lerman Gold Prize, receiving $10,000 and a paid performance engagement for the 41st Chesapeake Chamber Music Festival in June this year. The quartet also won the $1,000 audience prize.

The $5,000 Anne D. Moran Silver Prize was won by the Synchrony Saxophone Quartet. The other finalists – the Brompton Quartet, the Candide Quartet and Trio Animoso – each received $1,000.

This jury for this year’s final round was chaired by Catherine Cho and comprised Robert McDonald and Peggy Pearson.

The following day, each finalist ensemble travelled to different venues to present free solo concerts for the communities in Easton, St. Michaels, Oxford, Cambridge, and Centreville.

Formed at the Juilliard School in New York, the Dolphins Quartet comprises violinists Luke Henderson and Isaac Park, violist James Preucil and cellist Ian Maloney. The group recently received a Salon De Virtuosi career grant, was a finalist in the 2024 Concert Artists Guild competition and is currently the Arts Leadership Ensemble for Project: Music Heals Us.
