Six violinists have progressed to the semi-finals, which will take place on 11 September

The six violin semi-finalists of the 2026 George Enescu International Competition

The violin division of the 2026 George Enescu International Competition is currently underway in Bucharest, Romania. Following the second round of the competition held from 8-9 September, six contestants have been chosen to progress to the semi-finals. They are:

Jieon Park, South Korea

Eun Che Kim, South Korea

Francesco Papa, Italy

Jayden King, United States

⁠Mariam Abouzahra, Germany

Iohan Coman, Romania

The semi-finals will take place on 11 September at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest. Contestants will perform a violin sonata by Enescu with piano, as well as play and direct a Mozart concerto with chamber orchestra.

The final round of the violin division will take place on 13 September, with violinists competing for a first prize of €15,000. 

This year’s jury is presided by Mihaela Martin and comprises Ida Kavafian, Alissa Margulis, Vladimir Nemțanu, Nora Pötter, Bujor Prelipcean, Liviu Prunaru, Nemanja Radulović and Kathleen Winkler.
