British double bassist Danny Cleave assumes the role
The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has announced the appointment of its new co-principal double bassist, Danny Cleave. He takes up the role beside BSO principal bassist David Daly.
Hailing from South Devon in the UK, Cleave is a graduate of the Royal College of Music in London and studied with double bassist Caroline Emery.
He has performed with ensembles including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Smith Square, the London Mozart Players and with conductors including Martyn Brabbins, Vasily Petrenko and Rafael Payare.
As a teacher, Cleave has taught at the Scales Music School in Barnes and served as cover for maternity leave at the Westminster Abbey Choir School.
The orchestra shared the news on social media:
