The British cellist has cancelled performances through the end of March to allow his finger to heal

Following a finger injury in November which saw him cancel all remaining performances for 2025, British cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason has announced his withdrawal from further concert engagements until the end of March.
This includes his appearances in Turin, Amsterdam, Boston, Cleveland, Ann Arbor, Athens USA, and at London’s Wigmore Hall. Kanneh-Mason was named as the Mary and James G. Wallach artist-in-residence for the New York Philharmonic’s 2025–26 season, but has ultimately cancelled his Artist Spotlight recital with his pianist sister Isata at the end of March.
The cellist shared the news on social media:
‘Dear friends, thank you for your patience. We now know a little more about my finger injury and sadly it’s healing slower than expected. I’m feeling positive about the road to recovery but it does mean that I won’t be playing for a few more months.
‘My website will always be updated with the latest concerts, so please do look there for that information. And thank you again for your ongoing support which is so greatly appreciated.’
The Strad wishes him a swift and full recovery.
