Jacqueline Selby is an active performer and teacher in the New England area

The Portland Symphony Orchestra (PSO) has appointed Jacqueline Selby as assistant principal cello.
Selby comes from Duluth, GA, US, where she began her musical studies at the age of three with piano lessons. At the age of 16, shortly after performing on National Public Radio’s From the Top, she decided to concentrate on the cello as her main instrument.
Selby earned her bachelor’s degree in cello performance from Boston University, where she studied with George Neikrug, and her master’s from New England Conservatory, studying with Natasha Brofsky.
Also well as performing with the PSO, which is located in Portland, ME, Selby plays with Boston Lyric Opera and is a member of the Rhode Island Philharmonic. She has also taken part in the Santa Fe Chamber Music Series and Music from Salem, and played for the Atlantic Symphony orchestra and Numinous Ensemble in New York City. As a teacher, she has taught for Boston String Academy and Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras. She also spent a decade teaching yoga at Boston University.
