Aeolus Quartet signs to Cliburn Agency for worldwide general management

The Aeolus Quartet has announced it is signing to the Cliburn Agency for worldwide general management. It is the first string quartet to sign join the agency’s roster. 

The quartet said on social media:

The quartet comprises violinists Isabelle Ai Durrenberger and Rachel Kitagawa Shapiro, violist Caitlin Lynch and cellist Jia Kim. It was formed in 2008 at the Cleveland Institute of Music. The ensemble has won top prizes at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, Coleman International Chamber Ensemble Competition, Plowman Chamber Music Competition, and the Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition. In addition to working as teaching faculty at Interlochen Center for the Arts, it has worked with such institutions as the Smithsonian, Juilliard School, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and more. 

The quartet has performed for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, the Library of Congress, Chamber Music Detroit, Strathmore, Shanghai Oriental Arts Center, and other leading venues across the world. It has collaborated with artists including Renee Fleming, Ida Kavafian, Joel Krosnick, Michael Tree, Aristo Sham, Michelle Cann and Paul Neubauer, and as champions of new music, worked with composers such as John Corigliano, Andrea Casarrubios, Missy Mazzoli, Yevgeniy Sharlat and more. 

The Aeolus Quartet’s 2026–2027 season will include co-commissions with Tippet Rise Art Center, San Antonio Chamber Music Society, and Chamber Music Columbus for a new work by Karen Ouzounian, and with the Ravinia Festival for a new work by Errollyn Wallen. It will also include appearances at Chamber Music Boise, Reading Friends of Chamber Music, and a residency at Marlboro Music Festival.
