Violinists Clara-Jumi Kang and Esther Yoo step in as soloists
The Munich Philharmonic has announced that US violinist Hilary Hahn has had to withdraw from her concert engagements with the orchestra due to a nerve injury. This follows the cancellation of Hahn’s tours and concerts in July and November 2024 due to a double pinched-nerve injury.
The concerts will still proceed as scheduled, with German-South Korean violinist Clara-Jumi Kang stepping in to perform with the orchestra on 29 and 30 January in Munich, Germany, and US violinist Esther Yoo taking over the tour to Spain and the Canary Islands between 2–8 February. The planned repertoire of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto remains unchanged.
‘We are so much looking forward to our upcoming concerts!’ The Munich Philharmonic wrote on social media, ‘Dear Hilary, please get well soon and dear Clara and Esther, see you next week.’
