Violinist Rimma Benyumova assumes the role from December 2025

The Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of Siberian-born violinist Rimma Benyumova as its new associate concertmaster. She was previously concertmaster of the Dresden Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Berlin, and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden.
Benyumova first studied the violin with her father, Michail Benyumov, and later with Tomasz Tomaszewski at the Universität der Künste Berlin, with Ulf Wallin at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, and with Boris Kuschnir at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna.
She has won prizes in competitions including the David Oistrakh, Schoenfeld, Anton Rubinstein, and Victor Tretyakov international violin competitions.
Benyumova has collaborated with eminent conductors including Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Sir Simon Rattle, Paavo Järvi, and Herbert Blomstedt. As a soloist she has performed with ensembles including the Münich, Harbin, and Russian State symphony orchestras, and Milan’s Orchestra i Pomeriggi Musicali, at venues including Carnegie Hall, Musikverein Vienna, and the Berlin Philharmonie.
She currently performs on a 1741 Camillus Camilli violin on loan from a private sponsor.
