In this video, Davide Botto, first double bassist of the Filarmonica Teatro Regio Torino and double bass tutor at Turin’s Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory, gives a tutorial in playing the overture to Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro on the double bass. This is a free tutorial from String Virtuoso, a recently launched online resource for double bass players, teachers and students. Many of the performance and tutorial videos are available for free, with users paying £3.59 for a day pass allowing access to all content, or £16.99 for a month. Tutors include Christine Hoock, Tom Martin, Thierry Barbé, Timothy Cobb and Christian Ciaccio. The site also includes piano accompaniment tracks and sheet music with annotations from the artists.
