On 16 October 2026 cellist Annie Jacobs-Perkins releases her debut album Innisfree with pianist Dina Ivanova. The album is released on Champs Hill Records and is part of Jacobs-Perkins’s prize package having won the Pierre Fournier Award in 2023.
In this video, Jacobs-Perkins performs Sabina for solo cello, composed by Andrew Norman.
Norman wrote Sabina after witnessing the sun come through windows made of selenite stone during an early morning mass in Rome’s Santa Sabina.
The work features on Innisfree, with repertoire spanning from 1666 to 2008 by Rocco Greco/Bonifazio Graziani, Nadia Boulanger, Gabriel Fauré and Elliott Carter.
The album is named after a family home on Lake Ontario, itself named after Yeats’s poem The Lake Isle of Innisfree. Jacobs-Perkins regards it as her ’orientation to home’, a still point in a programme that ranges across three centuries.
’Part of the reason I love Sabina so much is that the music has always reminded me of Innisfree, of “lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore”,’ she says.
