A throwback performance to the ’Prom at the Palace’ 2002, marking the Queen’s Golden Jubilee
The ‘Prom at the Palace’ was held at Buckingham Palace Gardens on 1 June 2002, celebrating 50 years of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s reign. Directed by Nicholas Kenyon, the concert was broadcast by the BBC to over 40 countries.
Cellist Mstislav Rostropovich performs the prelude to Bachianas Brasileiras no.1, along with members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra cello section. Villa-Lobos wrote the work in 1930 and dedicated it to Pablo Casals.
