The Hawai’i Chamber Music Festival has extended violinist Stefan Jackiw’s artistic director role until the 2031 season.

Jackiw said on social media:

’I’m honored to announce that I will be continuing my role as Artistic Director of the Hawai’i Chamber Music Festival! Hawai’i is universally known as paradise—the weather, the ocean, the landscape—but for me it has truly become a second home. What I have come to understand is that what makes this place so extraordinary is its people and its community.

‘I have been fortunate to mentor the next generation of young musicians and to perform each summer alongside world-class artists. It has been a privilege to grow with the festival, and I remain deeply committed to continuing to shape its artistic direction.’

New York-based Jackiw has performed as a soloist with the world’s leading orchestra. His 2025-26 season included performances with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Austin Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Seoul Philharmonic and Kansas City Symphony. He also made his debut at the Southbank Centre in the context of a trio project with cellist Alisa Weilerstein and pianist Inon Barnatan.

As a chamber musician, he has performed at festivals including the Aspen Music Festival, Ravinia Festival, Caramoor International Music Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Lincoln Center’s Summer for the City Festival, Celebrity Series of Boston, Washington Performing Arts Society and at the Philharmonie de Paris and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw.

Jackiw is a graduate of Harvard University and the New England Conservatory. He is a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant and has studied under Zinaida Gilels, Michèle Auclair and Donald Weilerstein. He plays the Domenico Montagnana ‘Rossi’ c.1730 violin, loaned by a private foundation.
