Belgian double bassist Catharina Feyen assumes the role

The BBC Philharmonic has announced the appointment of Belgian double bassist Catharina Feyen as its second principal double bass.
Feyen is a graduate of Rotterdam’s Codarts University for the Arts and London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has most recently played in the double bass section of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, was fomerly an MMSF String Fellow of the Philharmonia Orchestra, and has performed with the European Union Youth Orchestra and at the Leonard Bernstein-founded Pacific Music Festival in Japan.
The orchestra also welcomed Gwyn Owen as third principal trumpet, and released the following statement on the appointments:
‘We’re thrilled to welcome two outstanding musicians to the orchestra… Their talent and artistry are a wonderful addition to the orchestra, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them on board. Welcome to the team, Gwyn and Catharina!’
