Levy will begin her post as professor of violin from September 2026

Maya Levy has announced she will be joining the faculty of the Alfred Cortot School of Music in Paris, starting in September 2026.
Writing on social media, she said: ’I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to share my passion and dedicate myself to what has inspired and driven me since childhood: the joy of learning, discovering, and transmitting knowledge. To be able to do so within the walls of such a remarkable institution is both an honour and a privilege.
‘As this new chapter begins, I do so with deep gratitude, excitement, and a sense of wonder for all that lies ahead.’
Levy is of French and Belgian heritage, and began playing the violin at the age of four with Bernadette Jansen. She continued her studies with Igor Tkatchouk, Boris Kuschnir and Hrachya Avanesyan.
She won first prize in the 2020 Francophone Public Media Competition and is a prizewinner of the Manhattan International Music Competition, the Karol Szymanowski Competition and the International Karol Lipinski Violin Competition.
In 2021, Levy was invited to perform at the farewell concert for the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, at the Palace of Fine Arts in Brussels.
She has appeared with numerous orchestras, including the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, Opera I Filharmonia Podlaska, the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Orquestra Simfonica Julia Carbonell, the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, the Torun Symphony Orchestra, the Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie, among others.
As a chamber musician, she is part of a duo with pianist Matthieu Idmtal, and was a member of the Carlo Van Neste Trio from 2014 to 2021.
She performs on a 1761 Testore violin from Cremona.
