The semi-finals of the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition (TICC) were held on Thursday 25 September at Freemason Hall in Trondheim, Norway.

Five groups presented a programme comprising a range of styles. They contained music from at least three different composers, including a previous edition’s commission or a work by a Trondheim Chamber Music Festival composer. 

Following the semi-finals, three quartets were selected to advance to the final round, which will be held on Saturday 27 September. They are:

The finalists will perform the competition’s commissioned piece A Pastoral Elegy by Norwegian composer Ståle Kleiberg, as well as string quartets by Schubert, Beethoven and Dvořák.

The quartets are competing for a €15,000 first prize, which also includes festival engagements. Second prize is €10,000, while third prize is €5,000. Also up for grabs is the Commission prize of €1,000, as well as the Audience and Jury prizes.

The 2025 edition jury is chaired by Levon Chilingirian and comprises Asbjørn Nørgaard, Bjørg Lewis, Øyvor Volle, Minna Pensola, Radovan Vlatković and Tomas Djupsjöbacka.
