My Space: S.K. Lim’s Singapore workshop

I’ve been based at this workshop in central Singapore for the past 15 years. Before that, I worked in a smaller space a few blocks away. It’s a good idea to be situated centrally; Singapore is only around 30 miles across and 17 miles from north to south, but it has a population of more than six million. There’s also a thriving music scene: though we only have one professional orchestra, there are several music schools and colleges, and lots of amateur groups that come together to play for fun. Most of my clientele is made up of students and amateurs. The workshop is also close to the city’s so-called Arts Belt on Waterloo Street, which is home to many arts organisations and studios…
