Watch this vintage 1962 performance of David and Igor Oistrakh play the second movement of the Prokofiev Sonata for two violins.

At this point in David’s career, he had made his conducting debut, as well as continuing to perform as a soloist within the Soviet bloc and to Western countries. By 1962, Igor was teaching at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, having won the Budapest International Violin Competition in 1949 and the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznań in 1952.
