South African cellist Abel Selaocoe performs his version of Lamentatio by Giovanni Sollima.

The work is being performed by Selaocoe as part of ‘Sirocco’, a UK tour with the Manchester Collective taking in London, Liverpool and Manchester.

‘We are connecting folk traditions of the world through the idea of Sirocco, a wind that travels from the Sahara across Southern Europe,’ says Selaocoe. ‘Our upcoming concerts include an amazing mix of music by Giovanni Sollima, William Lawes, Ravel, Haydn and Stravinsky, as well as folk music from African and Norway.’
