Dr Elena Chernova-Davis joins the school as assistant professor of music – violin

The University of Arizona has announced the appointment of Dr. Elena Chernova-Davis to its School of Music faculty as assistant professor of music – violin.
Chernova-Davis enjoys a multifaceted career as a soloist, chamber musician, concertmaster and pedagogue. She was a prizewinner at the Aleksander Glazunov International Competition in Paris.
Chernova-Davis performs as concertmaster of National Concerts at Carnegie Hall and has appeared as a soloist with the Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Nova and the National Orchestra of Uzbekistan.
As a chamber musician, she regularly appears with the Riverside Chamber Players and the Pedro Giraudo Tango Ensemble, and Arizona Friends of Chamber Music and Con Vivo Music.
She also has a deep passion for interdisciplinary collaboration, having organized and performed in projects involving dancers, visual artists, actors, storytellers, poets and non-Western composers.
She has been a faculty member at Rutgers University and Montclair State University, and at summer festivals including Brevard Music Center, the Bay View Chamber Music Festival and InterHarmony International Music Festival.
Chernova-Davis graduated with honours from the Tashkent State Conservatory and continued her studies in the US with Misha Vitenson, Elmar Oliveira, Mikhail Kopelman and Shmuel Ashkenasi.
