The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of violinist Fanny Robilliard as its new first concertmaster. She takes up the role alongside Malin Broman.

’After many years of dedicated searching, we are very pleased to have recruited Fanny Robilliard as the new 1st Concertmaster of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra,’ commented orchestra manager, Josef Beltzikoff.

’This position is central to the orchestra’s artistic direction and leadership, and being able to fill it now, after one of the two positions has been vacant for several years, is an important and very welcome step forward for the organisation.’

Robilliard studied at CNSMD de Lyon, the University of Music and Theatre Munich and University of the Arts in Berlin. She was a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Karajan Academy and has appeared as guest concertmaster with Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and Orchestre de Chambre de Paris.

She is a winner of the Ginette Neveu International Violin Competition and the Appassionato competition in Caen and was named Classical Revelation by Adami.

As a chamber musician, she was a member of the Karénine Trio from 2015 to 2020. The ensemble performed at venues including the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Frick Collection in New York, and the Philharmonie de Paris, playing alongside fellow musicians from the Belcea Quartet, Ebene Quartet and Doric Quartet among others.

She plays a Nicolò Amati violin dated 1627 on generous loan from Foundation Culture et Musique.
