The Alfred Cortot School of Music in Paris has announced the appointment of Christophe Coin as its new cello professor. The news follows the school’s recent appointment of Benedict Kloeckner to its faculty earlier this year in March.

Coin is known for his work in early music and is the founder of the Mosaïques Quartet and was the director of the Baroque Ensemble of Limoges, which he directed for 22 years until 2012.

He trained at the Paris Conservatoire with André Navarra and studied viola da gamba with Jordi Savall at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. Since 1988, Coin has been a teacher for baroque cello and viola da gamba at both institutions.

Coin has recorded as a soloist with the Orchester des Champs-Élysées, II Giardino Armonico, The Academy of Ancient Music, Concentus Musicus, and the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, among others.
