A trailer for Janine Jansen: Falling for Stradivari, a new documentary profiling Janine Jansen and her relationship with 12 Stradivari violins, which receives its premiere at London’s Curzon Mayfair on 2 September 2021.
The film follows the Dutch virtuoso from Stockholm, where she lives and teaches, to London, where she spends ten days becoming acquainted with each of the violins in preparation for recording her new album for Decca. She selects works that fit each instrument best, learns about their histories and particular foibles, and rehearses and records the album.
This is the first time that so many of the world’s most highly-prized Strads have been gathered together in one place, brought together by J&A Beare.
