The winners of the 2026 Opus Klassik awards have been announced, which celebrate classical music achievement in Germany. This year’s awards featured numerous string players, who will receive their awards at the ceremonies held on 10 and 11 October at Fotografiska and Konzerthaus Berlin.

The Strad’s June 2026 cover artist, violinist Christian Tetzlaff, won Instrumentalist of the Year for his recording of violin concertos by Elgar and Adès. His son, cellist Simon Tetzlaff, won Young Talent of the Year for his recording of Kodály, Sibelius and Ysaÿe.

The combined forces of the Ébène and Belcea quartets won Orchestra/Ensemble of the Year, for their recording of octets by Mendelssohn and Enescu.

The Strad’s April 2026 cover artist, violinist Franz Peter Zimmermann, won Solo Recording Instrument of the Year for his album of Bartók Sonatas nos 1 & 2 for Violin & Piano and Szymanowski MythesThe trio comprising Wu Wei, Martin Stegner and Janne Saksala won Chamber Music Recording of the Year for Pur ti miro for sheng, viola and double bass.

Violinist Esther Abrami and Vision Quartet both secured Classic Without Limits awards, for their albums Women and In the Fields respectively.

Aleksey Igudesman and Hans Zimmer won Film Music/Score of the Year for Black Gold (Music from the Original TV Series), while cellist Anastasia Kobekina won Innovative Concert of the Year for BACH CELLO DANCE.
