A collaboration of classical music recording companies has launched an initiative to raise much-needed funds for the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Ukraine.

A curated selection of 12 recordings by key Ukrainian composers from the 18th to the 21st centuries is offered on CD/SACD and download.

The labels BIS, Chandos, Delphian, Naxos and Toccata are are providing the discs free of charge, as well as covering the royalties and copyrights. Presto Music is handling the sales, logistics and shipping, meaning  that 100% of the sales revenues will go directly to humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

Chris O’Reilly, chief executive of Presto Music, says ’The dual opportunity to explore this largely neglected repertoire whilst raising much-needed money for this cause is one which we’re sure classical music fans worldwide will embrace.’

Ralph Couzens, managing director of Chandos Records, adds ’The chance for the classical recording industry to come together like this is our small way of doing what we can to raise funds for our friends in Ukraine.’

Presto Music has also launched a similar campaign over in its sheet music department: all of the profits from sales of selected items will be donated to support humanitarian causes in Ukraine.

The initiative is expected to raise in excess of £10,000 and all funds will be donated to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal via the Red Cross.
