Vengerov will play the Tchaikovsky Concerto with the Philharmonia and Mark Wigglesworth

Maxim Vengerov has stepped in to perform the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D major on Sunday 22 March, replacing Georgian-born violinist Lisa Batiashvili, who has withdrawn from the performance for health reasons.
Batiashvili was also due to play the Tchaikovsky at the concert with the Philharmonia Orchestra and conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali at London’s Royal Festival Hall.
Mark Wigglesworth will step in to replace Rouvali, who has also withdrawn from the performance due to illness.
’We are very grateful to Maxim Vengerov and Mark Wigglesworth for stepping in at short notice,’ said the Philharmonia on its website.
As well as the concerto, the programme includes Grażyna Bacewicz’s Divertimento and Walton’s Symphony no.1.
Russian-born Vengerov, who is one of the world’s most celebrated soloists, also wrote on his social media account ‘Wishing @lisabatiashvili a speedy recovery, and see you all in London this Sunday at 3PM!’
