Violinists from five different age categories were celebrated at the competition held from 6 to 12 April 2026

The sixth edition of the Hong Kong International Young Musicians Competition was held from 6 to 12 April 2026 at Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium in Hong Kong. The final round for the violin category was held on 12 April and was divided into five sections according to age.
In the category for violinists up to the age of 23, Li Hao was awarded the first prize of $3,000, together with the Gewa Music Prize, comprising a Gewa violin case. The second prize of $1,500 went to Mana Ishizuka, while the third prize of $750 was shared by Wong Ngai Wan Evangeline and Wong Chin Kei. Fourth prize was awarded to Agari Nagomi, fifth prize to Zhang Xin Ru, and sixth prize to Mei Zhaosheng.
In the category for violinists aged 15 to 17, the first prize of $1,800 was won by Yang Qingyuan, who also received the G. Henle Verlag Urtext Prize. The second prize of $900 went to Nishimura Mayu, and the third prize of $450 to Jeon Seyeon. Fourth prize was awarded to Hu Amber, while fifth prize went to Moon Haram and Park Haeun. Sixth prize was awarded to Wu Chun Yin.
The category for violinists aged 14 and under was won by Choi Soojin , who received $1,200. The second prize of $600 was shared by Aleksandr Kolesnikov and Chang Albert Wei‑Chen, while the third prize of $300 was awarded to Zhang Ziqian. Fourth prize was awarded to Baek Suhyeon, and the fifth and sixth prizes went to Wong Iat Ham Sabrina and Wong Ngai Nam Eleanor.
In the category for violinists aged nine to eleven, the first prize of $1,000 was awarded to Lee Sena. The second prize of $500 went to Luo Zhaolin, and the third prize of $250 to Zhang Victoria. Fourth prize was awarded to Endo Yota, fifth prize to Wang Zimo, and sixth prize was awarded to Yong Rae En Chovanne.
The category for the youngest violinists, aged up to eight, saw the first prize of $800 awarded to Lam Alexander TS. The second prize of $400 was awarded to Jin Jayden, and the third prize of $200 to Shing Keira. Fourth prize was shared by Lee Jing Yi and Ku Sophie X, fifth prize went to Chao Serena, and sixth prize was awarded to Hui Sophia.
All first prize winners also received a set of Pirastro violin strings and rosin, together with a 1,000 Free Credit App Voucher from G. Henle Verlag.
This year’s jury was chaired by artistic director Kirill Troussov and comprised Feng Jia, Florian Leonhard MBE, Huang Yi, Kara Nam, Qian Zhou, Robin Wilson, Savva Fatkulin, Sergei Dogadin, Sunny Lee, Xia Xiaocao and Takashi Shimizu.
Established in 2020, the Hong Kong International Young Musicians Competition is open to young musicians of all nationalities. This year’s competition attracted 1,000 applicants, with 98 candidates selected to take part in the first round.
