The Kronberg Academy has announced the appointment of Janine Jansen as professor of violin, effective from November 2023.

’With enthusiasm and joy we welcome Janine at Kronberg Academy. We look forward to her appointment that will be a great inspiration to our students and the audience in the Casals Forum’, said Friedemann Eichhorn, artistic director and head of study programmes.

The Kronberg Academy was founded in 1993 by CEO Raimund Trenkler, establishing itself as a leading school for young soloists. Faculty members include Mihaela Martin, Christian Tetzlaff, Antje Weithaas, Nobuko Imai, Tabea Zimmermann, Frans Helmerson, Wolfang Emanuel Schmidt and Sir András Schiff. Jansen will perform in two concerts together with Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica at the 2024 Kronberg Festival.

The Dutch violinist is one of the most sought-after musicians worldwide as both a soloist and chamber musician, working regularly with international orchestras and conductors. She is the founder and artistic director of the International Chamber Music Utrecht, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in December 2023. Jansen records exclusively for Decca Classics. Her latest recording 12 Stradivari explores 12 great Stradivari violins and the repertoire the instruments inspired. The chosen repertoire is specially curated by Jansen to showcase the unique qualities of each violin.

In addition to her post at Kronberg Academy, Jansen is also professor of violin at the HÉMU Valais in Sion, Switzerland since 2019.
