The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) has announced that its concertmaster, Jing Wang, has assumed the position of guest concertmaster with the China National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Orchestra in Beijing, beginning in February 2026.

Wang will continue to serve full-time as the HK Phil’s concertmaster, while performing occasionally with the China NCPA Orchestra in programmes including symphonies, chamber music and operas.

The HK Phil’s chief executive Bernhard Fleischer described the appointment as ’a new bridge connecting us with audiences in the Chinese Mainland’, while the orchestra’s deputy chief executive Patrick Ren said the role was ’both a testament to the enduring friendship between the two orchestras and a new chapter for our partnership’.

Wang has served as HK Phil’s concertmaster since 2013, when he was appointed by Jaap van Zweden. He was formerly the concertmaster of the Dallas Opera from 2010 to 2013 and served as guest concertmaster at the Houston Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, San Antonio Symphony, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra and Macao Orchestra, as well as the China NCPA Orchestra.
