Three finalists will perform a concerto with orchestra on 9 November 2025 in Thaon-les-Vosges, France

The semi-finals of the 8th Mirecourt International Violin Competition took place on 5 and 6 November 2025. Ten violinists performed a recital programme consisting of sonatas by Schubert or Beethoven, a French composer, and a virtuosic work of the candidate’s choice.
The jury has selected three violinists to progress to the final round, which will take place at 3pm on Sunday 9 November at La Rotonde in Thaon-les-Vosges, France. They are:
Gaspar Kelemen (Hungary, 17)
Jonathan Okseniuk (US, 19)
Seonglan Hong (South Korea, 24)
The candidates will perform their choice of the Brahms, Mendelssohn, Sibelius or Tchaikovsky concertos with the National Opera Orchestra of Lorraine, conducted by Alizé Léhon.
First prize on offer is €5,000, with second and third prizes respectively worth €3,000 and €1,000. Also up for grabs are special prizes of a modern bow, best interpretation of a contemporary piece, best interpretation of a French sonata, a two-year loan of a violin made by Léa Trombert, as well as masterclass and performance opportunities.
This year’s jury comprises the competition’s artistic director, Marianne Piketty, as well as Radu Bildar, Sophia Jaffé, Don Suk Kang, Elisabeth Kufferath, Marco Rizzi and Ulf Wallin.
