A documentary that delves into all aspects of the cellist’s life and career -  from his four-day courtship of his wife to that 1968 performance of Dvorak’s Cello Concerto at the Proms, coinciding with the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. With contributions from Rostropovich’s wife Galina Pavlovna Vishnevskaya, and the music writers Tully Potter and Richard Morrison amongst others.
