Violinist David Garrett plays and compares three Stradivari violins. As part of a celebration for World Violin Day on 13 December, he tries out the c1668 ‘Golden Bell’, the 1715 ‘il Cremonese - ex Joachim’ and 1734 ‘Lam - ex Scotland University’ - each from a different period of Stradivari’s unusually long life for the time.

Garrett gives notes on tone colour, playability and wood characteristics. Filmed at the Giovanni Arvedi Auditorium, Museo del Violino in Cremona.
