Violinist Wonhee Bae assumes the role

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) has announced violinist Wonhee Bae has its new chair of string and piano chamber music.
Bae is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, the Royal College of Music, the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. As a soloist, she won the first prize at the Lipizer International Violin Competition and was a prizewinner at the George Enescu International Violin Competition.
She is also the first violinist of the acclaimed Esmé Quartet, which won the 2018 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, the Possehl and Hans Gál music prizes. The group also won prizes at the Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition and was a HSBC Laureate of the Académie du Festival d’Aix.
Bae shared the news on social media:
‘Grateful to be stepping into the role of Chair of String and Piano Chamber Music, and for the opportunity to give back to a part of music that has shaped so much of who I am.
‘I’m looking forward to continuing to build on the strong chamber music community at SFCM and creating meaningful opportunities for our students to learn, collaborate, and grow together.
‘I’m especially excited about our Chamber Tuesday series, which brings our chamber music majors together with wonderful guest artists throughout the year. Lots to look forward to this season.’
