The violinist will begin her teaching role at the school from autumn 2026
The New Music School in Chicago has appointed violinist Clarissa Bevilacqua to its violin faculty. The school said it was ’thrilled for our students to learn from her artistry, passion and world-class experience’ on social media.
Bevilacqua will hold both mentorship sessions and individualised practice sessions with students throughout the 2026-27 academic year. She will hold a residency from 22 to 25 February 2027.
Bevilacqua has enjoyed an international performing career. Her 2025/26 season featured several debuts as a soloist, such as with the Munich Symphony Orchestra and Munich Chamber Orchestra. Her debut solo album, Mozartiana, was released in Spring 2026 by Berlin Classics, in collaboration with Bayerischer Rundfunk.
In 2023, she released Augusta Read Thomas’s complete works for solo violin and the concerto ‘Juggler in Paradise’ on Nimbus Records, in collaboration with BBC Radio 3. She has had new works written for her by Read Thomas, Richard Blackford and Giovanni Sollima.
She is the founder and artistic director of DYNAMIKfest Salzburg, an annual classical contemporary chamber music festival dedicated to championing artists and composers under 30.
Bevilacqua was awarded first prize, audience wward and special Bärenreiter award at the International Mozart Competition Salzburg. She was also awarded the Grand Prize at the Cape Symphony International Violin Concerto Competition and second place at the Monte-Carlo Music Masters.
In 2023, Clarissa was selected to join the Classeek Ambassador Program and its artist roster, as a winner of the open application competition. She currently a laureate of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon.
Bevilacqua received her bachelor’s degree at the age of 16, going on to complete her master of music in violin performance at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Pierre Amoyal, and a master of violin solo performance at the University of Music ‘Hannes Eisler’ Berlin with Antje Weithaas.
