Violinist Ilya Kaler and pianist Rasa Vitkauskaite perform Adoration by American composer Florence Price.
The work features on the duo’s album The Bridgetower Project, which aims to spotlight the story of Afro-European violin virtuoso George Bridgetower. At the heart of the album is Beethoven’s Violin Sonata no.9, op.47, written for and dedicated to Bridgetower originally but commonly carrying the name of Rodolphe Kreutzer.
Also featured is a world premiere of a new chamber work by Paquito D’Rivera, inspired by Bridgetower’s only surviving composition Henry, and the first-ever digital recording of poems Sonata Mulattica, read by the poet Rita Dove.
Kaler is the only artist in history to win first prizes at the Tchaikovsky, Paganini and Sibelius violin competitions, and is currently violin professor at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Vitkauskaite is principal pianist of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and a Steinway Artist.
The performance was filmed at Oktaven Audio in New York. The project will be presented in a performance at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall on 3 October 2026.
