Twelve violinists proceed to the next round, competing for the first prize of €15,000
The violin edition of the 2026 George Enescu Competition began on Friday 4 September at the George Enescu Hall of the National University of Music Bucharest, Romania. Of the 50 violinists competing, twelve were selected to proceed to the second round. They are:

- Eun Che Kim, South Korea
- I-Hao Cheng, Taiwan
- Iohan Coman, Romania
- Seunghyun Kang, South Korea
- Jayden King, US
- Tiantian Lu, China
- Masaki Morishita, Japan
- Francesco Papa, Italy
- Jieon Park, US
- Andrej Roszyk, Austria
- Yumiko Yumiba, Japan
The second round will take place in the same venue on 8–9 September. The violinists will perform a mandatory work for solo violin, as well as a sonata and virtuoso piece from a provided list. Six candidates will be selected for the semi-final round, vying for the first prize of €15,000.
This year, the violin edition’s jury is led by Mihaela Martin and comprises Ida Kavafian, Alissa Margulis, Vladimir Nemțanu, Nora Pötter, Bujor Prelipcean, Liviu Prunaru, Nemanja Radulović and Kathleen Winkler.
