Passengers were forced to disembark from the Regional Express from Büchen to Hamburg for security reasons yesterday, after an apparently drunk man pulled a knife and started throwing items of luggage onto the track. He was later arrested.

Among the items were bicycles, two cellos and a viola, which were all but destroyed. Overall the damages came to €14,000.

When asked why he had pulled the knife, the 36-year-old passenger replied, ‘Because I can.’

With him escorted from the train, the 25 passengers and crew were able to continue their journey.
