Violinist Jamie Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson will start a residency at the school in April 2025
Husband-and-wife duo Jamie Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson have been named distinguished artists in residence at Oberlin College and Conservatory. The pair will spend a week giving masterclasses, private lessons, plus coachings in both chamber music and their respective instruments from 2 to 9 April 2025.
Laredo and Robinson live in Cleveland and taught at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) for twelve years.
’One thing I am going to miss from CIM is the long-term relationship that one develops with a student,’ said Robinson. ’But I’m so happy to be still involved in young people’s lives, and I hope that we can establish some wonderful relationships with the young people at Oberlin.’
Laredo is a Grammy Award-winning violinist and along with Robinson and pianist Joseph Kalichstein, have received multiple Grammy nominations as the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson Trio.
The pair are part of the piano quartet ESPRESSIVO!, a collaboration with pianist Anna Polonsky and violist Milena Pájaro-van de Stadt.
’I’m delighted to welcome Sharon Robinson and Jaime Laredo to Oberlin Conservatory this spring,’ said William Quillen, dean of Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
’Sharon and Jamie are among the most important chamber musicians of our time, and our students will benefit tremendously from the opportunity to work with and learn from their decades of experience as global performers and dedicated coaches.’
