The United Strings of Europe, an ensemble made up of young professional musicians from across the continent, launch their New Horizons series tonight in London’s Conway Hall.

The ensemble, which has just completed a tour of Lebanon, and is today leading a workshop with refugees and asylum seekers at Amnesty International’s London headquarters, will be joined by New Zealand violinist Amalia Hall for a programme including music by Schubert, Vasks, Farr, and the UK premiere of Houtaf Khoury’s Et le vent qui souffle.

In this video from 2016 they perform Señores les voy a contar by the Geneva-based Salvadorian composer Arturo Corrales. The leader (and artistic director of the enseble) is Julian Azkoul, and Franck Fontcouberte conducts.
