A new record label specialising in overlooked works by British composers has launched with a disc of violin works. EM Records' debut release features York Bowen's Violin Sonata alongside the world premiere recordings of the violin sonatas of Arthur Bliss and Henry Walford Davies. The performers are Rupert Luck and pianist Matthew Rickard.

The label's director, Em Marshall, who founded the English Music Festival in 2006, said that three more discs of violin sonatas are planned for release in late 2011 and 2012. The three discs will focus on major British composers from the late 19th and early 20th century, and will include contemporary premieres by composers including Lionel Sainsbury and Paul Carr.
