The jury at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition in Port Erin, Isle of Man, UK, awarded first prize to the youngest competitor, Chinese 15-year-old Ziyu Shen. A student of Sheng Li at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, she received £7,000.

Kei Tojo, 21, from Japan, won second prize at the competition, which is held every three years and is open to violists under 30. Third prize was shared by Shuangshuang Liu, 26, from China, and Matthew Lipman, 21, from the US.
