In this, the first two videos, violist Jesus Rodolfo explores the connection between the solitude of New York City at this time, and the feeling of solo Bach. He plays the first movement of J.S. Bach’s Violin Sonata No.1, BWV 1001, transcribed for viola, in the empty HighLineNine Gallery in New York City.

His viola is the only replica of the Viola Strad ‘Spanish Court’ that is kept at the Royal Palace in Madrid, and is made by the Spanish Luthier Diego del Valle, who also made the violin for Princess Leonore of Asturias, future Queen of Spain.
