Twelve specially filmed concerts will be streamed from 26 June - 5 July
In place of its usual festival, which has been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, West Cork Music is to present a virtual event this summer. Consisting of a dozen specially filmed concerts, the West Cork Virtual Chamber Music Festival will run from 26 June - 5 July on the Festival website, featuring 40 musicians from the originally planned programme.
Highlights include Alina Ibragimova and Alasdair Beatson playing Mozart, Debussy and Ravel; a performance of Schubert’s ‘Trout’ Quintet from pianist Anna Fedorova and string players led by Mairéad Hickey; and several Beethoven tributes - not least from Vadim Gluzman, playing the ‘Spring’ Sonata, and the Dudok Quartet performing the String Quartet No. 13 in B♭ major, Op. 130, which ends with the Grosse Fuge. Performances will come from venues including Chicago, Cork, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Warsaw, Bremen and Bloomington.
