Dr. Serena Scibelli will assume the role of assistant professor of violin from autumn 2025
The Georgia State University School of Music has announced the appointment of Dr. Serena Scibelli as assistant professor of violin, beginning in the autumn of 2025.
As an educator, Scibelli has served as assistant professor and string area coordinator at Mississippi State University, held a faculty position at the University of North Georgia, and has offered masterclasses and clinics at institutions across the US and Europe.
Scibelli is a graduate of the Conservatory L. Cherubini in Florence and Conservatory A. Steffani in Castelfranco Veneto in Italy. She holds a master of musical arts and a doctorate in violin performance from the University of Georgia.
In addition to her academic and performance work, Scibelli serves as development coordinator and interim executive director of Heart Music, a Georgia-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing arts education and access.
Stating her greatest passion to be teaching, Scibelli said she was ‘honoured and excited’ to join the Georgia State University School of Music faculty.
’At the heart of my teaching is a commitment to individual attention, mentorship, and excellence,’ she said.
’I believe in building a studio that feels like family—where students support one another, grow together, and know they are always part of something bigger. My goal is to help each student discover their unique path and prepare for a successful, impactful career in today’s global music world.’
Tania Clements, string area coordinator and viola instructor, and Tamara Dworetz, director of orchestral studies, commented: ’Her ability to connect with students is unparalleled, and her artistry, pedagogy, and mentorship will be an incredible gift to both our violin students and the broader string/orchestra area.
’We look forward to the positive impact she will have on our programme and students.’
