Six violinists will perform with orchestra in the final round on 10 December

The semi-finals of the Seoul International Music Competition were held on 7 and 8 December 2025 at General Culture Center, Seoul National University of Education, South Korea.

Six violinists were chosen from twelve semi-finalists to progress to the final round, following a free recital programme consisting of a violin sonata and the competition’s commissioned work. 

The finalists are:

Jason Moon (US)

Lilia Pocitari (Moldova)

Oleksii Tyshchenko (Ukraine)

Yesong Sophie Lee (US)

Hyunjae Lim (Korea)

Haewon Yoon (Korea)

The finalists will perform a concerto from a prescribed list with orchestra on 10 December at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall.

The contestants will compete for the top prizes of US$50,000, $30,000 and $20,000 for first, second and third prize respectively. Fourth, fifth and sixth place will receive $10,000, $7,000 and $5,000 respectively.

Prizewinners will also receive concert engagements and recording opportunities.

The jury is chaired by Mi-kyung Lee and comprises Ju-Young Baek, Martin Beaver, Ronald Copes, Wei He, Masafumi Hori, Dong Suk Kang, Dene Olding, Marco Rizzi and Ulf Wallin.

The Seoul International Music Competition is held annually in rotating disciplines of violin, piano and voice. The previous violin edition was held in 2022 and was won by Korean violinist Dong Min Lim.
