The Vienna Philharmonic is to undertake a ten-day tour to Japan, with concerts at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall.

The concerts, opening with Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme in A major and Stravinsky’s ‘The Firebird’ (complete ballet) on 9 November, will take place ’under the highest level of precautionary measures…to prevent the infection during the orchestra’s stay in Japan’, according to the Suntory Hall website.

The pianist is Denis Matsuev, and the cellist is Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi. Valery Gergiev conducts.
