A school in Georgia is mourning the death of one of its students, after she was reportedly killed on Sunday 31 August.

Grace Choi, 15, was a student at Mount Pisgah Christian School in Johns Creek, Georgia. In what has been described as a domestic murder-suicide, Choi was killed alongside her mother, Myoung, by her father, James Choi, before he took his own life.

Mount Pisgah Christian School posted a statement on social media: ’We are heartbroken and devastated to confirm the untimely death of one of our treasured and beloved students, sophomore, Grace Choi.

’We wish to express our deepest condolences and our heartfelt love, support, and prayers to Grace’s extended family, friends, and everyone who is grieving with our school community.’

Choi was a promising violinist, who recently performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City with the True North Symphony on 12 July.

Officers discovered the murder scene after they made a welfare check over the weekend at the Choi family home, located in the private, gated community of St. Ives Country Club.

The Johns Creek police department has said they will not be releasing additional details on the deaths.

’This tragic incident has deeply affected not only the family and neighbours but our entire community,’ said Johns Creek police chief Mark J. Mitchell in a statement.

’We extend our heartfelt condolences to those impacted and ask that the community keep them in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.’
