Long-standing duo Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas will be disbanding after 26 years, as its members have decided to pursue new projects. Comprised of Scottish fiddler Alasdair Fraser and US cellist Natalie Haas, the duo’s debut recording Fire & Grace won the 2004 Trad Music award for album of the year and a further six albums were released to critical acclaim.

Fraser has won the Scottish National Fiddle Championship twice and was inducted into the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame in 2011. He has also performed in movie soundtracks including Titanic and The Last of the Mohicans.

A graduate of the Juilliard School, Haas is highly-sought after as a trad cellist and also performs with renowned fiddler Mark O’Connor as a member of the Appalachia Waltz Trio.

The news was announced on the duo’s social media page:

‘After 26 years of amazing musical explorations and great times, Alasdair & Natalie are about to embark on different projects. We thank you, our wonderful listeners and supporters, for being with us on this incredible journey. It’s been a blast!’

The duo is currently embarking on its last US tour and will perform its final concert in June at the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention in Aberdeen, Scotland.
